GMEA Events

GMEA is involved in the planning and sponsoring of several events throughout
the school year. Some of these events include:

The Annual Holiday Craft Bazaar held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving
at the Middle School, an event which is the sole money-making activity helping
to fund our GMEA Scholarship. For more information, please contact
Joann Pacifico at jpacific@gmsd.k12.pa.us.

The Big Brother / Big Sister "Bowl-for-Kids-Sake" Fundraiser Big Brothers
Big Sisters (BBBS) is a nationally known mentoring organization whose Berks
County chapter opened in 1968.  The program screens and trains adult volunteers
to act as positive role models for children between the ages of 7 and 17 who lack
adult guidance and have been identified as “at risk.”  The organization’s signature
event is Bowl for Kids’ Sake, and GMEA takes pride in being the only Berks
County chapter of PSEA to participate in this fundraiser.  GMEA’s role in Bowl
for Kids’ Sake has grown from the involvement of four individuals more than
14 years ago to full corporate sponsorship today.  Bowl for Kids’ Sake has
become a way for GMEA members to interact socially while raising donations
for an extremely worthy cause; association members, staff, friends and family
now comprise twelve to 15 teams per year, each of which raises an average
of $300 for BBBS.

The American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" held on the Governor Mifflin
athletic field where this past spring we sponsored members to walk.

The Annual Greater Mifflin Area Community Days held on the school
campus where each summer GMEA sponsors 2 stands, Al’s Sausage Stand
and Mootz's Candies.
